1st Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region
The 1st Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region takes place in Regensburg (Germany) from 27 - 28 November 2012
This first Annual Forum after the launching of the Strategy in 2011 will provide a framework to discuss on the state of play and future steps. Entitled "How the Danube Region can help to have a more competitive Europe", the conference will encourage a reflection on the potential contribution of the macro-regional perspective to Europe's growth.
The first Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region will gather a wide audience comprising: representatives from the European institutions and bodies, relevant international organisations, national ministries, regional and local authorities; as well as representatives from the business sector (chambers of commerce, trade unions, companies, etc.), the academia (universities and research centres), civil society (NGOs, cultural organisations, etc) and in general, all relevant stakeholders, in order to have a broad discussion and exchange of information about the state of play and further steps in relation to the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.
The focus of debate will be the challenges and opportunities of the Danube Region in terms of investment and economic competitiveness, infrastructure development, or energy efficiency, among others. The agenda will provide an opportunity to consider how the EU Strategy can play its part in the implementation of the Europe 2020 Strategy for a smart, sustainable and inclusive growth.
The conference is organized by the European Commission and Bavaria.
